چکیده

This paper reviews the development of in-orbit radiometric calibration methods in the past 40 years. It summarizes the development of in-orbit radiometric calibration technology of typical satellite sensors in the visible/near-infrared bands and the thermal infrared band. Focuses on the visible/near-infrared bands radiometric calibration method including: Lamp calibration and solar radiationbased calibration. Summarizes the calibration technology of Landsat series satellite sensors including MSS, TM, ETM+, OLI, TIRS; SPOT series satellite sensors including HRV, HRS. In addition to the above sensors, there are also summarizing ALI which was equipped on EO-1, IRMSS which was equipped on CBERS series satellite. Comparing the in-orbit radiometric calibration technology of different periods but the same type satellite sensors analyzes the similarities and differences of calibration technology. Meanwhile summarizes the in-orbit radiometric calibration technology in the same periods but different country satellite sensors advantages and disadvantages of calibration technology. * Corresponding author: Guoqing Zhou; Tel. /Fax: +86(773)5896073; E-mail: [email protected].

Evaluation on Radiometric Capability of Chinese Optical Satellite Sensors

The radiometric capability of on-orbit sensors should be updated on time due to changes induced by space environmental factors and instrument aging. Some sensors, such as Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), have onboard calibrators, which enable real-time calibration. However, most Chinese remote sensing satellite sensors lack onboard calibrators. Their radiometric calibratio...

Using the Moon for MODIS On-orbit Spatial Characterization

The moon is a very stable reference source that has been used for the space-borne sensors’ radiometric calibration and/or radiometric stability monitoring. In this paper, we present an approach that uses the sensors’ on-orbit lunar observations for their spatial characterization and apply the method to the MODIS instruments that are currently operating onboard NASA EOS Terra and Aqua satellites...

Ground-look Radiometric Calibration Approaches for Remote Sensing Imagers in the Solar Reflective

Since the early 1990s, the availability of remote sensing imagery in the solar reflective (400 to 2500 nm) has seen a dramatic increase. Airborneand satellite-based sensors now cover this spectral range with a variety of spectral resolutions (from the multispectral to hyperspectral) and spatial resolutions ranging from better than 0.3 m for some airborne systems (and better than 1 m for satelli...

Analysis of CrIS FM1 TVAC Test Data in Preparation for On-orbit Radiometric Calibration

1. Introduction The Cross-track Infrared Sensor (CrIS) [1] is one of the key instruments for the National Polar-Orbiting Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) [2]. As a Michelson interferometer, CrIS measures atmospheric emission spectrum in the infrared, which is to be used to produce the vertical temperature and moisture profiles of the Earth's atmosphere. The first Flight Module (FM1) of C...
